When it comes to d defense mechanisms there is two that i use the most. They are displacement and reaction formation. Displacement is to take out feelings on something that is not involved. An example of this is when i have a bad and stressful way i exercise and work out to relieve my frustration. Another example is also i bake and cook to get my mind distracted from certain things that put stress on me. Reaction formation is behaving in a way that opposite of real feelings. An example is when I am sad i rather smile and put on an act to be happy so no one ask about my feelings. Another example is when I am frustrated with a person I smile and laugh with that person so they get irritated. A defense mechanism that i would like to use more often is intellectualization because certain feelings i would like to surpass and go on with life.

The neurotic need that i use are neurotic need to restrict one's life with a narrow border. For example i like to sit in the back seat of a class room to avoid attracting attention. I also have trouble making friends because i am very shy. The other neurotic need id the NN for self sufficiency and independence. For example i rather do everything on my own and do not really ask anyone for help. I do not like to depend on other people. I would not really like to use any of the NN because they seem so extreme. I would like my life to be successful but i want to remain humble.

    In a best possible world, we are able to use a little of each defense mechanism and neurotic need when it's most appropriate. It's good to recognize areas where we overuse them. Remember, it's not a fault to ask for help from others.
